Around critical infrastructure, active roadways, and congested utility networks where precision is required. Every photograph on this page is ABI equipment on an ABI job.
Live roadway — boom deployed, cones set, lane kept open
Boom articulated over the dig
On site
The conditions we work in.
The method changes very little from one job to the next. What changes is what is around the hole.
01
Live roadway
Cones set, a lane kept open and traffic running past the dig. The opening is small, the spoil leaves with the truck, and the surface goes back the same day.
02
Inside the tolerance zone
Utilities are exposed, not struck. Water and vacuum provide the control required to work safely around critical underground infrastructure.
03
Tight access
Sites where a machine cannot be set up safely. The truck stays on the street and the work happens at the end of a hose.
04
Finished surface
Road, verge or hardstanding that has to be put back. A precise window costs far less to reinstate than an open trench.
05
Frozen ground
Heated water through the frost line, so a winter program does not stop at the first hard freeze.
06
Handed back daily
Swept and walked at the end of the shift, before the working area goes back to traffic or to the public.
Equipment
Both units, in the yard.
Two Kenworth T880 chassis under Kaiser Premier vacuum bodies, photographed in ABI’s own yard.
